Electrician Degree, Diploma and Certificate Options

Keiser AR electrician on power line poleThere are multiple ways to receive electrician instruction in a trade or technical school near Keiser AR. You may choose a certificate or diploma program, or receive an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are obtainable at some schools, but are not as common as the first three options. In many cases these programs are made available together with an apprenticeship, which are mandated by most states in order to become licensed or if you wish to earn certification. Bellow are short explanations of the three most typical programs available.

  • Certificate and Diploma Programs are usually offered by Arkansas trade and technical schools and require about a year to complete. They provide a solid foundation and are aimed towards those who want to get into an apprenticeship faster as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degree Programs take two years to finish and are offered by Arkansas community colleges, typically as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They provide a more comprehensive education while providing the foundation that readies students to enter into their apprenticeship program.

As previously stated, Bachelor’s Degree programs are offered at certain Arkansas colleges, but are less favored at four years than the other briefer programs. The majority of states mandate that an apprenticeship of at least 2 years and in most cases four years be completed prior to licensing.
