Electrician Degree, Certificate and Diploma Programs

Wellston OH electrician on power line poleThere are multiple ways to receive electrician instruction in a trade or technical school near Wellston OH. You can choose a certificate or diploma program, or receive an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are obtainable at certain schools, but are not as prevalent as the first three options. Often these programs are offered in conjunction with an apprenticeship, which are mandated by most states in order to be licensed or if you would like to earn certification. Bellow are brief summaries of the 3 most common programs offered.

  • Diploma and Certificate Programs are generally provided by Ohio technical and trade schools and take approximately a year to finish. They furnish a solid foundation and are geared towards those who would like to get into an apprenticeship faster as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degree Programs require two years to finish and are provided by Ohio junior or community colleges, usually as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They provide a more comprehensive education while supplying the foundation that readies students to enter into their apprenticeship program.

As earlier stated, Bachelor’s Degree programs are offered at certain Ohio colleges, but are less favored at four years than the other shorter programs. Most states mandate that an apprenticeship of at least 2 years and more typically four years be completed prior to licensing.
