    Chalkyitsik (Jałk'iitsik IPA: [t͡ʃaɬk'iːtsʰikʰ][1] in Gwich'in), meaning "to fish with a hook, at the mouth of the creek", is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, United States.     According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 9.1 square miles (24 km2), of which, 8.7 square miles (23 km2) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) of it (3.76%) is water. Chalkystik has a bitter subarctic climate.

    Chalkyitsik has a continental subarctic climate (Köppen climate classification Dwc) with mild summers and severely cold winters. Precipitation is very low, but significantly higher in summer than at other times of the year.
