Electrician Degree, Certificate and Diploma Programs

Beedeville AR electrician on power line poleThere are several ways to obtain electrician instruction in a vocational or trade school near Beedeville AR. You may choose a diploma or certificate program, or earn an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are available at a few schools, but are not as common as the other three options. Often these programs are made available combined with an apprenticeship program, which are required by most states to be licensed or if you would like to become certified. Bellow are brief descriptions of the three most common programs available.

  • Diploma and Certificate Programs are usually provided by Arkansas technical and trade schools and require about a year to finish. They provide a solid foundation and are aimed towards those who want to join an apprenticeship more quickly as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degree Programs take two years to finish and are offered by Arkansas community colleges, usually as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They provide a more extensive education while supplying the foundation that prepares students to join their apprenticeship program.

As earlier stated, Bachelor’s Degree programs are accessible at some Arkansas colleges, but are less preferred at 4 years than the other shorter programs. Many states require that an apprenticeship of no less than 2 years and in most cases 4 years be performed prior to licensing. For that reason, the majority of students are anxious to commence their paid apprenticeship, particularly if it’s not part of their academic program.
