Electrician Degree, Diploma and Certificate Programs

Lynd MN electrician on power line poleThere are multiple approaches to get electrician training in a vocational or trade school near Lynd MN. You can select a certificate or diploma program, or earn an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are available at certain schools, but are not as common as the first three options. Often these programs are made available together with an apprenticeship program, which are required by the majority of states to be licensed or if you would like to earn certification. Bellow are brief descriptions of the 3 most prevalent programs available.

  • Diploma and Certificate Programs are generally offered by Minnesota technical and trade schools and take about a year to complete. They furnish a good foundation and are aimed towards those who want to get into an apprenticeship more quickly as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degrees require 2 years to complete and are offered by Minnesota junior or community colleges, commonly as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They offer a more extensive education while providing the foundation that readies students to join their apprenticeship program.

As previously mentioned, Bachelor’s Degrees are accessible at some Minnesota colleges, but are less preferred at four years than the other briefer programs. Most states require that an apprenticeship of at least 2 years and more typically four years be completed before licensing.
