Electrician Degree, Certificate and Diploma Options

Glasston ND electrician on power line poleThere are several options to receive electrician instruction in a vocational or trade school near Glasston ND. You may select a diploma or certificate program, or receive an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are obtainable at certain schools, but are not as prevalent as the other three options. Often these programs are offered together with an apprenticeship, which are required by the majority of states to be licensed or if you would like to earn certification. Following are brief explanations of the three most typical programs available.

  • Certificate and Diploma Programs are generally provided by North Dakota vocational and trade schools and require about a year to complete. They furnish a solid foundation and are aimed towards individuals who want to get into an apprenticeship faster as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degree Programs require 2 years to complete and are provided by North Dakota community colleges, usually as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They furnish a more extensive education while providing the foundation that readies students to enter into their apprenticeship program.

As previously stated, Bachelor’s Degrees are offered at some North Dakota colleges, but are less popular at four years than the other shorter programs. The majority of states require that an apprenticeship of no less than 2 years and more typically 4 years be carried out before licensing. For that reason, the majority of students are anxious to commence their paid apprenticeship, particularly if it’s not a component of their academic program.
