Bramwell WV electrician on power line poleThere are several ways to receive electrician training in a vocational or trade school near Bramwell WV. You may choose a certificate or diploma program, or obtain an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are offered at certain schools, but are not as common as the other three options. In many cases these programs are offered combined with an apprenticeship, which are mandated by most states in order to become licensed or if you want to become certified. Bellow are brief descriptions of the 3 most common programs offered.

  • Certificate and Diploma Programs are usually offered by West Virginia technical and trade schools and require approximately a year to finish. They provide a solid foundation and are geared towards individuals who wish to join an apprenticeship more quickly as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degree Programs take 2 years to complete and are offered by West Virginia junior or community colleges, usually as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They furnish a more extensive education while providing the foundation that readies students to join their apprenticeship program.

As previously stated, Bachelor’s Degrees are offered at some West Virginia institutions, but are less favored at four years than the other shorter programs. The majority of states require that an apprenticeship of no less than 2 years and more typically 4 years be completed before licensing.
