Readstown WI electrician on power line poleThere are three general approaches to obtain electrician training in a vocational or trade school near Readstown WI. You can enroll in a diploma or certificate program, or earn an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are obtainable at certain schools, but are not as common as the other three options. Often these programs are made available combined with an apprenticeship, which are mandated by the majority of states to become licensed or if you would like to become certified. Following are short descriptions of the 3 most prevalent programs available.

  • Diploma and Certificate Programs are generally provided by Wisconsin technical and trade schools and take approximately a year to finish. They furnish a solid foundation and are geared towards those who wish to join an apprenticeship more quickly as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degrees require two years to complete and are provided by Wisconsin community colleges, usually as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They furnish a more comprehensive education while supplying the foundation that readies students to enter into their apprenticeship program.

As earlier mentioned, Bachelor’s Degree programs are accessible at some Wisconsin institutions, but are less popular at 4 years than the other shorter programs. The majority of states require that an apprenticeship of no less than 2 years and in most cases 4 years be performed before licensing.
