Electrician Diploma, Certificate and Degree Programs

Tyro KS electrician on power line poleThere are multiple ways to obtain electrician training in a trade or technical school near Tyro KS. You may select a diploma or certificate program, or obtain an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are available at some schools, but are not as prevalent as the other three options. Frequently these programs are made available together with an apprenticeship program, which are mandated by the majority of states in order to be licensed or if you would like to become certified. Following are brief descriptions of the three most typical programs offered.

  • Diploma and Certificate Programs are generally offered by Kansas vocational and trade schools and require approximately a year to complete. They furnish a solid foundation and are geared towards those who want to enter an apprenticeship faster as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degrees require 2 years to complete and are offered by Kansas junior or community colleges, commonly as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They provide a more extensive education while supplying the foundation that prepares students to enter into their apprenticeship program.

Many states require that an apprenticeship of at least 2 years and in most cases four years be carried out before licensing.
